About Pat Courtney
"My joy is in the media itself - the blending of color, shape, line and form. As the impressions develop, the subject evolves, not from literal visions, but from internal imagination and often represent a deep seated conviction that I would like to convey to the viewer." Taking inspiration from an atistically oriented family, Pat Courtney has been involved in the arts from earliest recollection. Though proficient in various disciplines, she has chosen watercolor as her main source of expression. She considers herself a "Representational Expressionist," striving to capture the essence of a subject rather than an exact copy. Formal education was obtrained athrough related studies at the University of the Pacific, Santa Rosa Junior College, endocino Community College and with such noted California Watercolorists as Robert Nash, Nat Levy, George Post, Richard Yip and Kenneth Potter. After retiring from a long career in the floral industry as an entrepreneur and free-lance designer, Pat is now enjoying giveing full attention to China painting and watercolors. She is now represented in private collections in New Jersey, New York, Maryland, Wisconsin, Michigan, Texas, Oregon, Washington, and of course California. |
