Bio: Linda Zuker-Becker
I was born Linda Bayhi in New Orleans, Louisiana by parents of French and Spanish descent making me what the people in the south refer to as, a “Creole”. By nature we’re very passionate people and have a zest for life that many lack. I find great pleasure in simple subjects that are right in front of me turning them into works of art. Through my schooling I sought out every art class I could, taking advantage of every one of them, excelling in each. After raising a family of four sons I went back to school taking 3 years of college art from drawing to color theory. From there I took instruction from a brilliant woman who graduated from the University of Texas with a bachelor’s degree, learning much from her. Since educating myself, I’ve shown in galleries, local establishments and on websites, selling original pieces and giclee prints, I’ve also done some commission work. One of the websites I showcase my work on, the American Academy of Women Artists, required a juried membership limited not only to women but also a limited number. Countrywide, there are approximately 130 members and only two from California, one of which I am. I work primarily in oils, some of my paintings taking as long as 3 to 4 months to complete. I strive for photo realism so detail, composition and color are very important. I take great pride in each piece I do and that reflects in the end result. |
