Judy Mathieson of Sebastopol, an internationally-known quiltmaker, speaker, teacher, author and certified quilt judge will display ten of her quilts at the Falling Leaves Quilt Show. She will attend the show and quilt show guests will have time to meet her. It is an honor and a privilege for Ladies of the Lake to have an artist of this caliber in the Falling Leaves Quilt Show. The authors of “The Twentieth Century’s Best American Quilts” featured her “Nautical Stars” quilt on the cover of their book in 1999.

       Ms Mathieson began quilting in 1973, and for more than twenty years she has specialized in exploring the design possibilities of the intricate traditional quilt pattern “Mariner’s Compass.” While she uses a traditional pattern, her work is by no means traditional in appearance, taking this old favorite to new heights in her dynamic designs. She has published two books, “Mariner’s Compass Quilts: New Directions” and “Mariner’s Compass Quilts: Setting a New Course” showcasing her works and also those of other quilters.
