The Main Street Gallery

invites you to join other art lovers to an exciting

First Friday Fling

What do you do for the “Sweetest” in your life for Valentine’s Day?  Get a jump start and head to the Main Street Gallery’s First Friday Fling reception on February 6th from 5:30 to 7 PM when the Gallery will feature exciting new work from four new artists.  Richard Smith with ink jet prints of his portraits in oil beautifully captures the subject and the moment.  Smith brings with him a lifelong experience in the art world which includes scenic art and set design for the capitol and light opera in Sacramento and, venturing into a totally different realm, the building of log homes.

Adding to the excitement and variety of the February show are Dave Sammel with abstract and impressionist work in acrylic that he has executed into creatively shaped canvases that fit into a harmonious whole.

Also showing for the first time at the Main Street Gallery are Margaret Rawson with her strong impressionist brush work in acrylic and mixed medium in a variety of subject matter.  Adding  to, and in great contrast to Margaret’s paintings,  are the works of Linda Moran in vibrant watercolors of figures, roses and street scenes and including a remarkable pen and ink of an orangutan.

The Linda Carpenter Gallery will feature paintings from Diana Liebe’s beginning watercolor class that is held on Wednesdays at the Gallery from 1 PM to 3 PM.  Student’s displaying their work in this show are Carol Batho, Toni Hyden, Jill Minuderi and Richard Schmidt.  Diana is a gifted teacher and fine artist and is experienced in marketing and demonstrating techniques in a variety of art mediums and supplies from watercolor to fabric applications.

To complement this fine show will be the melodious sounds of “From the Heart” with Saro and Reiker on guitar and harp and the fine wines of Moore Family Wines.

Also on display will be a few pieces of art from the estates of Samuil Marcu, Jerome Seitz and Gerald Thompson to entice you to the upcoming auction to be held at the Soper Reese Theatre on Sunday, February 22nd.  Preview beginning @ 12 PM and auction @ 2 PM.

We look forward to sharing this evening of the finest that Lake County can offer in art, music and wine.  The Main Street Gallery is located at 325 North Main Street in Lakeport.  For additional information, please call 263-6658.
